Listen LiveAberdeen, S.D. - In their first full weekend of NSIC action, the Northern State University men's basketball team will travel to University of Mary and Minot State. The Wolves will face off with the Marauders Friday at 8 p.m., and travel to take on the Beavers at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Northern enters the weekend 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC with a current 3-game win streak.The Wolves defeated Presentation College and Chadron State from Wachs Arena over the holiday weekend, 101-66 and 83-63, and notched a 87-82 victory over Jamestown Monday. Multiple Wolves tallied career highs versus the Jimmies including;
Mack Arvidson and
Ian Smith with 23 and 17 points,
Skye Warwick with eight assists, and
Ian Smith with eight rebounds. NSU is currently shooting 48.5% from the floor, 43.8% from 3-point range, and 70.5% from the foul line.
Darin Peterka was named athlete of the week after averaging 18.0 points and 5.7 rebounds versus Presentation College and Chadron State. Northern will look to snap their road loss streak this weekend.
About the Marauders • Mary is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the league heading into the weekend, after a 78-66 victory over Minot State this past Saturday.
• The Marauders are led by head coach Joe Kittell in his first season with the program.
• Marquealis Edwards leads the team averaging 17.0 points per game, while Bryan Jefferson is averaging a team leading 7.4 rebounds per game.
• U-Mary is off to a solid start after being picked 14th overall in the NSIC Preseason Poll.
