Women's ResultsJoplin, Mo. – The Northern State men's and women's cross country teams ran strong from the NCAA Central Regional led by
Sasha Hovind and Dakota Bullen. The women finished tenth overall, while the men finished in 22
nd as a group.
Sasha Hovind and Dakota Bullen led the NSU women, each finishing in the top ten and qualifying for the NCAA National Championships. Hovind took fifth overall with a time of 20:49.65. The junior held strong throughout and improved on her 2014 regional time of 21:20.43. Bullen finished under a minute later in ninth at 21:14.53. Dakota moved up 31 places from a season ago as she finished 41
st overall, improving her time by nearly two minutes.
Nicole Arnold and
Lindsey Gast were the next finishers for the NSU women at 22:56.48 and 23:30.53. Freshmen
Paige Larson was the final Wolf to finish in the top 100 with a time of 23:41.10.
Hunter Kopff was the top finisher for the NSU men with a time of 33:21.05. Close behind Kopff were
Clay Danielson and
Tanner Peltier finishing back-to-back at 33:40.96 and 33:42.50. The 10k marks the first of the NSU freshmen's careers, as well as personal bests for the Wolves in competition including Kopff, Danielson,
Ben Jack,
Jacob Schweitzer, and
Thomas Horgeshimer.
Northern State seniors
Hunter Kopff and
Nicole Arnold ran the final races of the career for the Wolves finishing with solid times each. Next up for the junior women is the NCAA Championships from Joplin November 21
st. The race start is scheduled for 11 a.m. from the Missouri Southern State course.
