Photo GalleryAberdeen, S.D. – The No. 4 Northern State University Wolves dropped a heartbreaker in the NSIC quarterfinals to No. 21 Winona State at home. The Wolves slide to 25-4 on the year and will await their post-season fate in the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show.
The Wolves struggled to string together kills throughout the match tallying 36 to the Warriors 51. Northern was led by senior
Kelsey Chambers with 11 kills, followed by
Mandy Kurosky and
Cari McGarvie with nine and six.
Kellie Schmit added six kills of her own and led the team hitting .333 in the match.
Drew Smith paced the NSU offense with 34 assists and added six digs on defense.
Renee Hoffman led the team with 18 digs. Smith and Schmit each tallied four blocks, while Chambers added six digs of her own.
Each team tallied 17 errors in the match, however WSU edged past NSU ultimately. Northern recorded 36 kills, 46 digs, 35 assists, and three blocks in the match.
Tori Biach added four kills, while
Annika van Oosbree and
Amanda Tobin tallied five and three digs respectively. Also recording digs were Kurosky with four and McGarvie and Biach with two.
