ResultsAberdeen, S.D.- In their first home competition of the 2015-16 season, the Northern State University swimming team was defeated by Minnesota State University Moorhead with a final score of 184-78. After falling to the Dragons in the Moorhead Quad just a weekend ago, the team bridged the scoring gap and had notable improvements in many heats.
The Wolves received first and second place finishes in seven different races within the 14 event dual. Recording the two first place finishes for Northern State was sophomore,
Kayla Sproles, in the 100 yard free (55.54) and in the 50 yard free (25.68). Sproles also stepped in a long distance role in the meet by contending in the 1650 yard free for a second place finish with a final time of 19:14.54.
Northern State also nabbed second place in the 100 yard breast, the 200 yard butterfly, the 100 yard butterfly, and the100 yard individual medley. Junior
Eliza Jacob landed first place for the team in 100 yard breast (1:10.22),
Katelyn Rhodes in the 200 butterfly (2:19.23), and
Ashley Dunn in both the 100 yard butterfly (1:03.96) and 100 yard individual medley (1:05.38). Dunn was just nine seconds from first place finisher, Jackie Woods, of MSU Moorhead.

Eliza Jacob and
Kayla Sproles, the best relay finish for the Wolves came in the 800 yard free. The team recorded an 8:27.93 finishing time, split seconds behind the Dragon's second place stretch.
Northern State swimming will return to action on Friday, November 13
th at 5:30 p.m. to face off against the University of Minnesota Morris.
