Aberdeen, S.D.- After forcing two overtime matches the previous weekend, the Northern State soccer team is gearing up to face the University of Sioux Falls and Southwest State University this upcoming Saturday and Sunday. The Wolves' most recent home games resulted in a 2-1 win against Bemidji State and then a 1-2 loss versus Minnesota Crookston. The team has compiled an overall record of 5-8-1 and stand 3-6-1 in the NSIC.
Leading the Wolves in points this season is
Anna Bondy with 15; she currently has six goals and three assists on the year. Close behind her is
Allie Macdonald with four goals and three assists, and
Darian Leschewski with five total goals. Goalkeeper,
Brittany Tietz has only allowed 1.60 goals a game and has recorded 88 saves in her 11 games.
Northern State will kick off against the University of Sioux Falls at 12 p.m. on Sunday and Southwest Minnesota State University at 1 p.m. from Jerde Field.
About University of Sioux The Cougars are currently 2-11-0 overall and 1-10-0 in the NSIC, with their lone conference victory coming against the University of Mary. Lola Weiss leads in scoring for USF, with two goals on the year. Chessa Novotny and Brooke Jensen each have a goal and an assist for the Cougars. The team is led by first year head coach, Brittany Goosen.
