Wolves Host Marauders in Week Four of NSIC North Play

Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University football team returns home this weekend for a military appreciation match-up with the University of Mary. The Wolves and Marauders will kick-off at 2:30 p.m. from Swisher Field. NSU football will also be hosting their annual pink out game where players will wear pink tape and gloves. Wolves football players wearing pink are sponsored for $10 each, and student athletes are still available. Contact the NSU football office at 605-626-2007 to sponsor and paint a wolf pink. The NSU ticket booths will also have free will donation buckets in the Wolves fight against breast cancer. All proceeds from the pink event will go directly to a current cancer fighter associated with the program.
 
The Wolves enter the weekend on a three game win streak over Minot State, MSU Moorhead, and Minnesota Crookston. Northern is now 3-4 on the year and 3-0 in the NSIC North. Northern recorded two touchdowns in each of the four quarters against the Golden Eagles. The NSU defense notched three sacks, for a loss of 15 yards, and two interceptions, returned for 37 yards, in the win. The NSU rushing game was solid in week seven versus the Golden Eagles. Stephen Erlandson (Qdoba Athlete of the Week) rushed for a season high 99 yards with two touchdowns. He averaged 6.6 yards per carry, with a team leading 15. Christian McAlvain was second on the team with 93 yards rushing and one touchdown. The quarterback tallied a 36 yard long and averaged 13.3 yards per carry. Chaka Kelly added to the team total with 90 yards rushing and a season high three touchdowns. Kelly averaged 6.4 yards per carry, with 14 in the win.
 
About the Marauders
• U-Mary enters the weekend 0-7 on the year, with two shut-outs.
• Head coach Josh Kotelnicki is in his second season with the program.
• The Marauders have been out-scored by their opponents 260-49 this season, averaging only 7.00 points per game.
• Quarterback Caleb Buck is averaging 163.9 yards per game passing with 1,147 total yards.
• Preston Tescher leads the team with 60 total tackles and 38 solo stops.

• Northern took the 2014 contest from Bismarck with a score of 42-33.
• Nicholas Truen led the team with two touchdowns, while Cameron Pudwill and Cody Kraft each notched one. Truen recorded 47 yards rushing and 79 yards receiving.
• Zach Neer led the defense with eight solo tackles and 11 in total.

• The Wolves went 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the NSIC North Division in 2014. The Marauders went 5-6 overall and 3-4 in the North Division a season ago.
