Moorhead, Minn.- The Northern State swim team defeated Concordia College-Moorhead tonight in their first head to head dual of the season. The Wolves came off the blocks strong as they scored an overall 122 points to the Cobber's 82 in the 11 events. Top finishes for the team came in the 200 free, the 100 fly, 500 free, 100 free, 50 free, 100 back and the 400 free relay.
Freshman
Ashley Dunn set a strong pace for the Wolves as she tallied a pair of wins early in the meet in both the 200 free (2:07.49) and the 100 fly (1:03.44). In the 400 IM race,
Brianna Iverson placed first (5:16.66) and
Megan Hanson was close behind, finishing second (5:20.67).
Eliza Jacobs had a solid performance with a win in the 500 free (5:38.47), leading the entire race.
Cassandra Maillet also recorded a win in the 100 free (58.26) and took second in the 100 breast (1:12.81), with both times improving from last weekend. Sophomore
Kayla Sproles received first in both the 50 free (25.31) and the 100 back (1:02.67) as she continues to improve her times as well.
In the 400 relay, Northern State took both the first (3:55.95) and second (3:57.79) place finishes. The top team consisted of swimmers,
Kayla Sproles,
Maida Walters,
Katelyn Rhodes and
Cassandra Maillet, with impressive splits coming from each competitor.
The Wolves return home to compete against Minnesota State University Moorhead at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow night from the Aberdeen YMCA.
