Aberdeen, S.D.- After one full month and seven games on the road, the Northern State soccer team returns home to Aberdeen, S.D. to take on Concordia-St. Paul and nationally ranked, No. 13 Minnesota State Mankato. At midseason, the Wolves are currently 4-3-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the NSIC.
Leading the way for the Wolves through the month of September has been
Anna Bondy and
Darian Leschewski, each recording three-goal hat tricks. Bondy has tallied 11 shots on goal, with three goals on the year and Leschewski has added ten shots on goal, with four total connected goals.
Allie Macdonald and
Kay Hernandez have been in position to set them up, as they have seven combined assists.
Northern State's defense has been strong in protecting shots. The Wolves defense has only allowed nine goals, in large part to senior
Brittany Tietz in the net. Tietz has put up big numbers her five starts, only allowing four goals, posting a 0.80 goals against average and notching a .905 save percentage.
Sanford Aberdeen and Northern State University Athletics will team up for a breast cancer awareness game, Saturday October 3rd versus the Golden Bears. NSU players and coach will sport pink themed attire, while fans are encourage to participate as well. Fans have the opportunity to win one of 50 pink shirts thrown into the stands throughout the action or purchase a Northern Strong breast cancer awareness shirt of their own. T-shirts will be available for $20 each and sold in the soccer concession stand; all proceeds will go to the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Center.

The Wolves soccer team will face off against the Golden Bears at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the Mavericks at 1 p.m. on Sunday from Jerde Field.

The Golden Bears have notched eight goals on the year, with seven different players contributing. Jessica Bianchi, Alahna Anderson, and Taryn MacMillan have two a piece. The Wolves hold a 14-3-1 all-time record against the Golden Bears, and have won the last four consecutive matches. Steve Bellis, who brings 15 years of experience, is head the Concordia head coach, and has been with the team for four seasons.

th nationally, the team remains undefeated 6-0-0 in conference play and is 7-1-0 overall. The Mavericks only loss came early in the season from the number four ranked team, Grand Valley State. Minnesota State has outscored their opponents 28-3 in their eight total games. Junior midfielder, Kiana Nickel has seven goals for the Mavericks, and goalkeeper Lauren Hoeppner has 39 saves and a .929 save percentage on the year. The team is led by third year head coach, Brian Bahl.
