Aberdeen, S.D.- In a double overtime contest, the Northern State soccer team defeated Bemidji State 2-1 this afternoon from Jerde Field. The Wolves snapped a three game win streak in the victory over the Beavers. Northern improves to 5-7-1 overall on the season and 3-6-1 in the NSIC, while Bemidji drops to 8-5-0 overall and an even 5-5-0 in the conference.
The Wolves came out looking to score in the first few minutes of the game, but the two teams found themselves deadlocked at zero until seconds before the end of the first period. Midfielder,
Allie Macdonald dribbled through the Bemidji State defenders for an unassisted first goal of the game.
Quickly answering back at the start of the second period, Bemidji State midfielder Christine Szurek, put the ball in the high corner of the net passed the Northern State goalkeeper in the 48
th minute to tie the match, 1-1. As the game progressed, each team continued to battle back and forth using the length of the field. Both the Wolves and the Beavers found themselves in an aggressive foot race heading into overtime, with 23 fouls being called throughout.

th minute that Northern State was able to collect the final goal. The Beavers outshot the Wolves 24-20 in the match-up, but the Wolves had the advantage when it came to shots-on-goal with 11-9.
The Wolves return to Jerde Field tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. to face the University of Minnesota Crookson Golden Eagles.
