Joe Gomez defeated Upper Iowa's Richard Briggs at 197 pounds, 6-2 Saturday night in Fayette, Iowa to give the Northern State wrestling team its lone victory of the match. The sixth-ranked Peacocks defeated the Wolves 48-3.

The win is Gomez's 13^th victory of the season. Grant Steen at 149 pounds was defeated in a hard-fought match to Trevor Duke, 5-3 while Sean Havlovic at 157 also lost a decision.

Next up for the Wolves will be a pair of home matches next week as Southwest Minnesota comes to town Wednesday and Jamestown comes to Wachs Thursday night. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
