The Northern State wrestling team returns to the mat Wednesday evening as in-state rival Augustana comes to Wachs Arena for a 7 p.m. match.

Northern (0-2, 0-1 NSIC) is coming off a 27-18 loss in its NSIC opener Saturday against Minot State. The two teams each won four of the eight contested duals in the match. The Wolves had to forfeit at 125 and 133 pounds.

Blake Perryman at 165 pounds and Joe Gomez at 197 both recorded a fall in their individual matches, both of which came in the first period. Perryman defeated Minot's Richard Avakovs, while Gomez pinned Tobias Baker. With the win, Perryman improved his record to 2-2 on the season while Gomez moved to 12-3.

Sean Havlovic at 157 and Anthony Navarro at 174 recorded the Wolves' other two victories on the night. Havlovic won a high-scoring, 13-8 affair over the Beavers' Zachary Cummings while Navarro used a late surge in the third period to score the win over Jon Wilson.

The Vikings enter the contest 7-4 in duals this season and are coming off a 1-2 weekend at the NWCA National Duals. Augustana defeated Central Missouri 21-16 and lost to Central Oklahoma 19-16 and Lindenwood (Mo.) 24-13 at the event. Wednesday will be AC's NSIC opener. The Vikings are 3-0 this season in road duals.
