Volleyball Opens Season at Nebraska Kearney

The 21st-ranked Northern State volleyball team opens the 2014 season as the Wolves travel to Kearney, Neb., for the Nebraska-Kearney New Victorian Inn & Suites/Runza Fall Classic.

NSU will play four matches at the tournament beginning Friday as they face South Dakota Mines at 10 a.m. and Newman at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Wolves will face Western State Colorado at 2:30 p.m. and will close the tournament with host and ninth-ranked Nebraska Kearney at 7 p.m.

NSU was picked fourth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll and are led by fourth-year Head Coach Brent Aldridge, as well as All-American and Preseason NSIC Player of the Year Kelsey Chambers. Chambers was a First Team All-NSIC selection in 2013. Northern also returns a pair of second team all-league performers in setter Drew Smith and middle Hitter Tori Biach.

Northern will play in a pair of pre-conference season tournaments in 2014. The Wolves host the NSU Dakotah Bank Vollebyall Classic Sept. 12 and 13 in Wachs Arena before beginning NSIC play Sept. 16.
