Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University soccer dropped their second NSIC match-up of the weekend to Minnesota Duluth, with a score of 0-1. Northern falls to 2-4 on the year and 1-2 in NSIC play.

NSU keeper Brittany Tietz had a season high 11 saves in the contest, fighting to keep the Wolves hopes alive. Tietz let in the lone Bulldog score early, but hunkered down to not only save some decisive shots but to break up countless UMD crossing attacks. The NSU defense held the Bulldogs scoreless off 12 corner kick attempts.

Alyssa Wilde recorded two shots on the day for NSU, one of which, a shot on goal. After going down early in the first half the Wolves entered the second half of play with an increased offensive attack. With a few roster changes due to injury, Amber Wanous moved out of her normal defense position to help to Northern front line. The Wolves however were unable to connect ball with net and fell in the contest.

Northern State will continue their NSIC home stand next weekend as they take on Wayne State and Augustana College. Game times are set for 1 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday from Jerde Field.
