The 21^st-ranked Northern State volleyball team will play its first home matches of the season Friday and Saturday as the Wolves host the NSU Dacotah Bank Volleyball Classic.

NSU's first match of the tournament will be Friday at 12:15 p.m. against Southwest Baptist from the MIAA. Northern will close the first day against St. Cloud State at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Wolves play Minot State at 12:15 p.m. and will close-out the tournament against Minnesota, Crookston at 7 p.m. Northern's matches against NSIC opponents will be non-conference matches.

The Wolves are coming off a 3-1 start to their season last weekend at the UNK Fall Classic. Northern swept South Dakota Mines, Newman and Western State Colorado at the tournament and were defeated by then-No. 9 Nebraska Kearney. The Lopers are now sixth in the latest AVCA top-25 poll.

Kelsey Chambers, Cari McGarvie and Drew Smith were named to the all-tournament team last weekend. Smith led the Wolves averaging 14 assists per set in the four matches while Chambers led the team with 45 kills. McGarvie was second on the team with 36 kills and a .441 attack percentage.

SBU enters the weekend with a 4-0 record after defeating Ouachita Baptist, Trevecca Nazarene, Miles and Alabama Huntsville last weekend at the UAH Classic. St. Cloud is 3-1 having beaten North Carolina-Pembroke, West Georgia and Rollins last week at the Rollins Tournament. The Huskies' lone defeat came in five sets to Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Minot State is 2-2 in 2014 after beating Black Hills State and Chadron State at the Montana State-Billings Invite. The Beavers lost to MSU Billings and U-Mary last weekend. Crookston is 4-0 after coming off victories over Kentucky Wesleyan, St. Joseph's, West Liberty and Maryville last week at the Maryville Tournament.
