Engel Homer Just Enough to Lead Wolves to Victory

Winter Haven, FLA. – In their final day of play from the Rebel Spring Games, the Northern State University softball team went 1-1 on the day. The Wolves started the day with a 2-0 win over Adelphi University and ended the day with a 0-9 loss to University of Indiana in five innings of play. Northern now sits at 4-4 on the year after a two game cancellation the previous day.

Game one matched the Wolves up against the Panthers as Kami Smesmo took the mound. Smesmo recorded her third win of the season with a seven inning shutout. Eryn Yancy, Rachel Albright and Macey Engel recorded the three team hits in the win.

Engel's however, was the most exciting of the day as she stepped to the plate with one runner on and blasted her first homerun of the season to left center. The two RBI were all the Wolves needed to secure the victory.

NSU then fell in game two to U-Indy in five innings of play.

The Wolves will return north for a few days of practice before heading to Topeka to take on Washburn University on March 19th with times still to be determined.
