Wrestling Picks Up 27-21 Win Over Dickinson State

The Northern State wrestling team picked up its second dual victory at home on the season, improving its record to 4-8 in dual matches with a 27-21 win over Dickinson State Thursday evening.

The Wolves won five of the seven contested matches on the night. DSU picked up forfeit wins at 125 and 165 pounds while Northern got a forfeit at 184.

Cody Voegeli got the Wolves on the board first at 133 as he picked up a solid 10-4 win over DSU's Matt Chambers. Voegeli used a big third period in which he scored five points to pick up the victory. At 141, Ian Muirhead was in control for much of his match against Seth Ehland and picked up a 5-2 win. At 149, Beau Voegeli continued the Northern dominance as he blanked Manny Reyes 7-0 for the victory.

Sean Havlovic (157) and Blake Lundgren (174) sealed the deal for NSU with back-to-back pins to secure six team points each for the Wolves. Havlovic's came over Sean Elkins with just 11 seconds remaining in the first period while Lundgren's came at the 4:02 mark over Jonathan Morales.

The Wolves return to NSIC action Friday evening as they travel to Marshall, Minn., to face-off with Southwest Minnesota State in a 7:00 match.
