Box Score
Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team capped off the NSIC regular season with a 59-49 win over the visiting Minot State. The Wolves moved to 21-5 overall and 17-5 in the conference before heading into the playoffs. Northern had clinched the north division title a night ago, however looked to rid the bitter taste in their mouths from the road loss to the Beavers earlier this season.

The Wolves were led by Rachel Krogman who tallied 19 points in the win as she was 5-10 from field goal range and 9-13 from the line. Senior Alison Kusler was close behind Krogman, in her final NSIC regular season contest at Wachs Arena, with 16 points and nine rebounds just shy of a double-double. These two led the attack for Northern as their combined total outweighed that of the rest of the team. Krogman played the game in its entirety for the first time this season, while Kusler was off the floor for all but two minutes.

Northern played stellar defense in the match-up holding NSIC leading scorer, Carly Boag who averages over 20 points a game, to 15 in the loss. The Boag sisters were the only Beavers in double-digit points in the contest. A total of 28 NSU points were the direct result of 19 Minot turnovers. For the second night in a row the Wolves notched only eight turnovers, however held their points given up to a mere four. Twelve bench points and seven second chance buckets sealed the deal for the Wolves in the end.

Four other NSU women connected for points in the match-up led by Megan Mutchler with seven. Starter Kara Hofschild continued to be a needed force on defense with three steals and two defensive rebounds to add to her five points in the win. Both MacKinzie Magner and Sadie Stotesbery dropped six points on the night. Magner was a perfect 2-2 from three points range, as she dropped two of the team's five long range buckets.

Northern will now look forward to the first round of the NSIC conference tournament to be played this Wednesday from Wachs Arena. The women will begin play at 6 p.m. against Southwest Minnesota State University. Earlier this season the Wolves defeated the Mustangs 57-46 on the road. In the event of a win, NSU will then travel south to Sioux Falls to finish the conference tournament at the Sanford Pentagon.
