The Northern State wrestling team finished its 2013-14 regular season dropping a home dual to Minnesota State 28-11 Thursday night in Wachs Arena.
The Wolves (4-12, 0-8 NSIC) picked up wins at four different weight classes in the match. CJ Voegeli got things started for the Wolves with a 3-1 win over Tanner Mills at 133 pounds. Voegeli trailed 1-0 in the third period before registering an escape and a takedown to get the win for the Wolves.
CJ's brother Beau scored an impressive 8-3 win at 149 pounds over Weston Droegemueller. Voegeli scored six of his points in the third and final period.
Anthony Navarro won a 5-2 thriller at 174 pounds over MSU's Brendan Eichmann. The two were tied a 2-2 going into the final half minute of the third period before Navarro escaped from the bottom and got a takedown on Eichmann just before the period ended.
Joe Gomez closed the winning out for NSU at 197 pounds. Gomez registered his team-leading 21
st win of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Mavericks' Chris Zimmer.
Next up, the Wolves will travel to Edmond, Okla., for the NCAA Super Regional Three Tournament hosted by Central Oklahoma. The regional tournament will be held February 28 and March 1.
