Photo GalleryAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team recorded their eighth straight victory in Friday NSIC play versus University of Mary. The 80-53 victory moves the Wolves to 8-0 overall and 2-0 in Northern Sun conference play.
Megan Mutchler matched her career high of 24 points in the win. Mutchler was 11-for-15 from the floor and a strong defensive presences holding Mary leading scorer, Brittney Dietz, to a mere 4 points.
Rachel Krogman recorded her fifth double-double of the season, notching 15 points and 13 rebounds. Krogman became the 13
th member of the 700 career rebound club, while recording a season high 10 defensive boards.
Paige Waytashek was hot from the arch going 3-for-5, with 13 points and six rebounds. Waytashek was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Sadie Stotesbery was the final Wolves starter to record double-digit points, tallying 11 on the night.
The Northern bench compiled 14 points led by freshman
Miranda Ristau. Ristau matched her career high six points in six minutes of play, while adding three rebounds and two steals.
Lauren Deadrick continued to play well off the bench scoring five points and pulling in six rebounds. As a team the Wolves out-rebounded the Marauders 49-33 and recorded 30 points in the paint.
NSU recorded a hot hand night, shooting 51.6 percent from the floor, a season high 62.5 percent from three-point range, and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line. Defensively the Wolves held U-Mary to a 30.8 field goal percentage and 54.5 free-throw percentage. Northern led the entirety of the game entering the half up 18 points, at 41-23, and recording their seventh 20 point or more victory.
The Wolves will return to Wachs Arena tomorrow for a 5 p.m. match-up with Minot State University.
