Wolves Close 2014 at MSU Moorhead

The Northern State men's basketball team closes its three game road swing with a trip to face MSU Moorhead, the only team to defeat the Wolves this season, at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Saturday's game will be the final contest for NSU before the winter break. The Wolves are coming off a pair of victories last weekend in their first true road games of the season, defeating Minnesota Duluth 58-50 and St. Cloud State 91-77. The 19th-ranked Dragons defeated SCSU and lost to Duluth last weekend, giving them their first loss of the season.

Last Weekend
Northern's Mitch White recorded a career-high 24 points in the Wolves' win over St. Cloud State last Saturday. NSU shot a season-best 57.8 percent from the floor in the victory. Friday against the Bulldogs, Northern came back from a 40-19 second half deficit to claim the victory, giving the Wolves their sixth win on the season when trailing at halftime.

Northern Notes
Forward Seth Bachand ranks 15th in the NSIC and leads the team averaging 13.6 points per game this season. Bachand is also the league's top rebounder averaging 9.2 a contest, ranks third in field goal percentage (65.4 percent) and fourth in blocks (1.6 bpg). Sharpshooter Skye Warwick leads the league with 2.8 three-pointers made per game and is seventh in three-point shooting at 51.7 percent.

About the Dragons
MSUM ranks second in the league in scoring, averaging 83.2 points per game and is tops in the NSIC in scoring defense, allowing just 62.3 ppg. The Dragons lead the league in seven other statistical categories this season, leading in scoring margin (20.9), free throw percentage (77.1), field goal percentage (51), three-point percentage (44.5), assists per game (17), assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0) and three-pointers made a game (11.3). They also are second in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 40 percent.

Jordan Riewer leads the team and is tenth in the league in scoring with 15.4 points per game. Riewer is also third in the league averaging 5.1 assists per game and is fourth in three-point percentage shooting 53 percent on the year.

Last Meeting
The Dragons defeated Northern in November in the NSIC opener, 75-55 at Wachs Arena. Moorhead made 10 three pointers in the game and shot 50 percent from the floor while holding the Wolves to just 36.5 percent shooting. Five Dragons scored in double figures in the contest, while NSU was led by Bachand's 16 points and seven rebounds.
