Sean Havlovic at 157 pounds and Joe Gomez at 197 were the lone Northern State wrestlers on Thursday to win their matches as the Wolves opened their dual schedule with a 34-6 loss to Chadron State inside Wachs Arena.

Havlovic picked up his fifth win of the season with a 4-1 decision over the Eagles' CJ Clark. Havlovic controlled much of the match, registering a first period takedown which proved to be the match-winning points. Havlovic also added a point for riding time in the win.

Gomez's victory over Devan Fors came in sudden victory overtime 3-1. Gomez was able to get a takedown right away in the extra frame to secure the win. Gomez just missed on a takedown at the end of regulation which would have given him the win in regular time.

Tyler Frost at 141 pounds lost an action-packed match to begin the dual as he lost 9-5 to Josh Miller. Miller scored four points in the final period to secure the win. Tanner Olson lost a tough match at 165 pounds to Chance Helmick 4-3 and David Murphy was defeated 5-3 at 184 pounds by Dylan Fors.

Thursday's match was Northern's final event before winter break. The Wolves will return to action January 8 when they open NSIC competition at MSU Moorhead.
