Watch LiveThe Northern State wrestling team will wrestle at home for the first time this season Thursday at 7 p.m. as Chadron State comes to town for the Wolves' first dual meet of the season.
The Wolves enter the dual after a successful weekend at the MSU Moorhead Dragon Open. At the tournament,
Joe Gomez took home the Red Division Title at 197 pounds. Gomez opened the day in impressive fashion as he recorded an 18-1 technical fall over Concordia-Moorhead's Kyle Willette. Gomez followed that up with a 4-3 win in the semifinals over St. Cloud State's Trae Story before registering a 4-1 decision in the championship match over VJ Giulio.
Tanner Olson at 165 pounds took second at the open. Olson won his first two matches of the day via decision over Zach Barber of Concordia-Moorhead (7-1) and over MSUM's Casey Williams (4-3) before losing in the title match to SCSU's Josh Berg, losing a hard-fought 5-4 decision.
David Murphy took third place in the White Division at 184 pounds at Moorhead. Murphy beat teammate
Quace Wright in the third-place match.
The Eagles enter the match with a 2-2 record in duals this season. Chadron wrestled all four of its matches last Friday at the Argo Duals in Great Falls, Mont. CSC defeated Great Falls (Mont.) 30-15 and Minot State 30-12 and lost to Montana State Northern and McKendree.
