Meet ResultsAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University swim team defeated Minnesota Morris 173-110 at home, from the Aberdeen Family YMCA. The victory marks the second and final for the Wolves this season as they move into the heat of meet season. In the sixteen event, the Wolves garnered fourteen first place marks aside from diving which NSU does not compete in.
The relay team of
Megan Hanson,
Eliza Jacob,
Katelyn Rhodes, and
Amy Wockenfuss started the ball rolling for the Wolves with a top mark in the 400 medley relay. The squad finished at 4:16.50, beating the Cougars be just over seven seconds.
Brianna Iverson and
Mikaela Waiflein continued the Northern win streaking taking the top two finishes in the 1000 freestyle with times of 11:45.42 and 12:05.01. Iverson and Waiflein mirrored the same finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:44.05 and 5:57.79.
For the second straight week
Kayla Sproles led the team with four first place finishes on the night, including three individual marks. Sproles began the night with a top mark in the 200 freestyle at 2:01.73. She then took back to back first place marks in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle.
Amy Wockenfuss took second to Sproles in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.64, while
Kamie Wagar finished with a fourth place mark in the 100 freestyle.
Jamie Fuse recorded a break out night matching Sproles for the team leading four first place finishes. Fuse began her attack in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:05.02, followed by
Megan Hanson in second at 1:07.62. Fuse went on to finish one-two with Hanson again in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:22.44. Her final individual first place mark of the night came in the 200 individual medley, hitting the wall at 2:23.35.
Eliza Jacob tallied a second place finish in the race with a time of 2:24.54.
Jacob notched two first place finishes of her own in the 200 breaststroke, at 2:35.39, and the 100 breaststroke, at 1:11.14.
Katelyn Rhodes was the final Wolf of the night to record first place marks in the 200 butterfly, at 2:16.60, and the 100 butterfly, at 1:02.29.
Kamie Wagar took second to Rhodes in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:04.84.
Finishing the night strong was the 200 freestyle relay team of
Kayla Sproles,
Katelyn Rhodes,
Kamie Wagar, and
Jamie Fuse who captured Northern's 14
th first place finish of the night, with a time of 1:44.67.
Northern will swim in their final dual of the season at Nebraska-Kearney on November 21
st. Races begin at 5 p.m. from Kearney.
