Wolves Gear Up for MSU Moorhead and Jamestown

Aberdeen. S.D. - The Northern State University men's basketball team will open the NSIC season Saturday, with a home contest against MSU Moorhead. The Wolves and Dragons are set to tipp-off at 7 p.m. following the women's NSIC opener. Northern will then play thier final non-conference match-up of the season, in a single night game Monday, Decemeber 1st at 7 p.m. versus University of Jamestown. The Wolves men are 5-0 on the year heading into this weekend's games. 

Northern State opens its conference slate Saturday as the Dragons of MSU Moorhead come to town. The two team's split last season's two meetings with both teams winning at home. The Dragons won 87-76 in last season's NSIC opener with the Wolves winning the rematch in December, 70-69. Jamestown will be NSU's final nonconference game of the season. Northern defeated the Jimmies 78-73 last season in Aberdeen.

About the Dragons 

Chad Walthall is in his fifth season as the head coach at Moorhead. The Dragons were picked as the preseason favorite to win the North Division by the league's coaches in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. MSUM was tabbed to finish third overall in the NSIC. MSU Moorhead is led by Jordan Riewer who is tied for fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. Riewer is also second in the league averaging 6.2 assists per game. Aaron Lien's 14.6 scoring average ranks 15th in the NSIC. Riewer and Lien rank second and third, respectively in threepointers made per game in the league with three and 2.8 per, respectively. Isaac Sevlie
is tops in the league in blocks averaging 2.4 a contest.

About the Jimmies

lan Magnani enters is in his first season with the Jimmies. Prior to coming to Jamestown, Magnani spent 16 seasons at Iowa Wesleyan College where he is the all-time winningest coach in IWC history. Magnani won three conference Coach of the Year awards while at Wesleyan and led the team to four appearances in the NAIA National Tournament. This season, Jamestown has averaged 73.2 points per game and is allowing 75.1 points per game. The Jimmies are led by Brequan Tucker who is seventh nationally in the NAIA averaging 19.3 points per game. Tucker is also averaging a team-best 3.4 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game this season. Jake Hagler is the only other player for the Jimmies scoring in double figures
