Women's Basketball Continues Home Play Sunday and Tuesday

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team will play their final two non-conference games of the season this Sunday and Tuesday from Wachs Arena. NSU will tip-off with South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Sunday at 1 p.m., and Mayville State, Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the men to follow each day.
 
The Wolves began the week with a 20 point victory over University of Jamestown. Rachel Krogman tallied her first double-double of the year, leading the team with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Megan Mutchler added 13 points and eight rebounds. The Wolves out-rebounded their opponents 40-28 in the win, as they shot 51.1 percent from the floor. Krogman continued to lead the team in game two of the week with 14 points and 11 rebounds, as the Wolves defeat Black Hills State 68-45 at home. Sadie Stotesbery and Lauren Deadrick were second on the team with 12 points apiece. Stotesbery tallied nine rebounds and Deadrick tallied five. The 12 points marked a career high for Deadrick. NSU recorded season highs in points in the paint (28), second chance points (18), bench points (28), and rebounds (56).
Northern is now a perfect 4-0 on the year.
 
About SD Mines

 
The Hardrockers enter the game 1-2 prior to a Saturday match-up with the University of Sioux Falls. Mines fell to St. Cloud State 53-62 and 55-63 in the opening two games of the season. Their lone victory is over Black Hills State with a score of 57-52.
 
 All-Time NSU vs. SD Mines
 
 The Wolves are 10-1 against the Hardrockers, with the first match-up in 1978-79. In 2013-14 NSU defeated SD Mines 51-35. Rachel Krogman led NSU with 15 points and 16 rebounds in the season opener. Megan Mutchler added 12 points in the win, while Sadie Stotesbery pulled down seven rebounds.
 
 About Mayville State
 
The Comets entered the season ranked 17th in the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches Pre-Season Poll. Mayville stated was picked second in the NSAA preseason poll, just behind University of Jamestown. The Comets are 4-4 on the year coming off a 76-82 loss versus Bemidji State in Friday basketball action.
 
 All-Time NSU vs. MSU
  
The Wolves are 19-3 against the Comets all-time. Northern went on a 17 game win streak from 1988-1998, with their largest victory coming in 1998; 98-56. In 2013-14 the Wolves defeated the Comets 81-58 led by Rachel Krogman with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Megan Mutchler notched 18 points and nine rebounds in the win, marking season highs for the pair.
