Wolves Travel to Bemidji For Regular Season Finale

The Northern State football team closes its regular season Saturday afternoon as the Wolves travel to Bemidji, Minn., to face the Bemidji State Beavers in a 1 p.m. game. Northern enters the contest 7-3 overall and 5-1 in the North Division. The Beavers are 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the division.

Quarterback Jared Jacobson can re-write the NSU record books on Saturday as he is in reach of three separate records at Northern. Jacobson needs three passing touchdowns to break Jason Landmark's record of 67 career passing touchdowns and 207 yards of total offense to surpass Landmark's 9,966 yards of total offense in a career. With 324 yards of total offense, Jacobson will pass Toby Korrodi's record for single-season total offense with 3,441 yards.

Jacobson enters the weekend third in the NSIC in total offense averaging just under 312 yards per game. His 260 yards passing per contest ranks fourth in the league. The twin duo of Zach and Channing Barber rank first and fourth in the league, respectively in kickoff return average. Zach is averaging 32.4 yards per return while Channing is averaging 25.8 per on the season. As a team, NSU ranks 10th in the nation in kickoff return average (25.5).

About the Beavers
Quarterback Ryan Shields leads BSU and is 10th in the NSIC in passing yards per game averaging 190 per on the season. Shields has completed just 48 percent of his passes this season and has 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions. The Beavers' top receiving threat is freshman Blake Holder. Holder is ninth in the league averaging 72 yards receiving per game. He has 40 catches for 721 yards (18 avg./catch) and six touchdowns this season.

Defensively, Connor Quinn ranks seventh in the conference in tackles averaging just over nine per contest. Quinn also ranks fifth in the NSIC with 6.5 sacks this season. The Beavers are 2-3 at home this season and have lost three straight heading into Saturday. Bemidji is led by 19th-year Head Coach Jeff Tesch. Tesch has compiled a record of 119-86 at BSU.

Last Meeting
The Wolves recorded one of their two shutouts last season in their win over Bemidji. NSU held the Beavers to just 234 yards of total offense and Jacobson threw for three touchdowns in the win.

The Series
The Beavers lead the all-time series 10-3. Northern has never won at Bemidji but has won two of the last three overall in the series.

The Forecast
The Weather should be cold but clear in Bemidji. Temperatures are expected to be in the high teens with sunny skies with no chance of snow. Winds are expected to be out of the West between five and 10 MPH.
