Wolves Fall in Four to Wayne State in NSIC Tournament

The Northern State volleyball team's season came to a close Tuesday night in Wayne, Neb., as the Wolves fell in four sets to Wayne State in the opening round of the NSIC/US Bank Volleyball Tournament. Set scores went 25-10, 25-19, 19-25 and 25-17. The Wolves finish the season 19-9 overall.

The Wildcats (25-5) hit .357 as a team in the match while NSU hit just .220. Northern had six service aces and seven errors in the loss while Wayne recorded five of each. The Wolves recorded a 54 percent sideout percentage, while WSC had a 72 percent mark.

Tori Biach led the Wolves with 11 kills in the match and hit .440. Hailey Busch and Cari McGarvie each added 10 kills. McGarvie hit a team-high .476 and had and ace and a blocking assist. Mandy Kurosky chipped in with eight kills.

Setter Drew Smith recorded her 14th double-double of the season in the match as she registered 46 assists and had 12 digs. Smith also had an ace and a solo block on the night. Renee Hoffman led the squad with 20 digs and Annika van Oosbree added nine.
