Watch LiveThe Northern State volleyball team plays two more road matches this week as the Wolves travel to face Winona State and Upper Iowa in weekend contests. NSU and Winona starts at 7 p.m., Friday and the Upper Iowa tilt will be at 3 p.m., Saturday.
The Wolves are 17-7 overall and 10-6 in the conference, just one game back of WSU in the NSIC standings. Northern is coming off a four-set victory over MSU Moorhead Tuesday night in Moorhead, Minn.
Tori Biach had a big match for NSU in the win, as she recorded 11 kills and hit a team-best .400. Biach also recorded career-highs with nine digs and eight total blocks in the match.
Kelsey Chambers and
Mandy Kurosky led the team with 13 kills each.
WSU is 16-6 overall and 11-5 in league play this season and have won six of eight matches at home. The Warriors are led by Danielle Rampart's 313 kills. Her 4.01 kills per set rank fourth in the conference. The freshman is also second on the team with a .232 attack percentage. Taylor Goar is second on the squad with 240 kills and setter McKenna Larsen is averaging 10.13 assists per set this season.
Northern swept the Warriors earlier this season in Wachs Arena.
Hailey Busch led the Wolves in the win with 12 kills and a team-best .391 hitting percentage. Chambers and
Cari McGarvie each added nine kills in the victory and NSU hit .286 as a team while holding WSU to a .133 hitting percentage in the match.
Upper Iowa is 10-14 overall and 5-11 in the NSIC in 2014. The Peacocks are led by Jennifer Mundt's 359 kills. Her 3.95 kills per set are fifth-most in the league. UIU employs a two-setter offense with Hailey Brown leading the team with 5.56 assists per set. Jenna Hermsen averages just over four assists per. Amanda Weiss' 4.75 digs per set rank fifth in the conference.
