Kayla Sproles led the Northern State University swim team in their first dual meet of the season, with three first-place finishes. The Wolves recorded sixteen top five finishes on the night.
Sproles notched her first race win of the season in the 50 free with a time of 24.86, setting a new school record in the event. She then followed it up with another first-place spot in the 100 free, hitting the wall at 54.40. She added a third place finish in the 200 medley relay with teammates
Eliza Jacob,
Jamie Fuse, and
Kamie Wagar. Finally her 800 free relay team of Jacob, Iverson, and
Katelyn Rhodes took first with a time of 8:20.88.
Along with the relay team wins,
Eliza Jacob recorded a second and third place finish in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes.
Kamie Wagar finished just behind Jacob in the 50 yard breast with a fourth place spot. She also notched a fourth place mark in the 50 yard fly with a time of 28.51.
The long distance swimmers for the Wolves recorded four top five finishes in the dual, led by
Katelyn Rhodes with a first place mark in the 500 free at 5:32.62.
Brianna Iverson took fifth in the race with a time of 5:41.36. Iverson also finished third in the 1000 free with a time of 11:41.76.
Mikaela Waiflein finished fifth in the race with a time of 12:09.54.
Rhodes continued a solid night taking second in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.93. Newcomer,
Jamie Fuse recorded her first top three finish of the season in the 50 back with a time of 30.98.
Shannon Fines notched a fifth place mark in the race at 34.30.
Megan Hanson recorded her first two high finishes of the season taking fourth in the 200 free, at 2:11.74, and fifth in the 100 back, at 1:08.85.
Northern will be back in action next Friday from Aberdeen as they take on Concordia College. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. from the Aberdeen YMCA.
