UMC Live StatsAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University soccer begins a two weekend road stretch this Saturday and Sunday. The Wolves will face Bemidji State and Minnesota Crookston, with game times set for 11 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. NSU is currently 4-8 overall and 3-6 in Northern Sun play.
The Wolves fell twice last weekend against tough opponents in Upper Iowa and Winona State.
Anna Bondy led NSU against the Peacocks with two shots in the loss.
Brittany Tietz notched five saves in the game, while
Justine Charles made her first career save after entering the game for Tietz early in the second half. Upper Iowa took the game 2-0, shutting out the Wolves. Northern faced a difficult opponent in day two against the No. 22 Winona State Warriors.
Alyssa Wilde, the lone sub for NSU, scored her first goal of the season assisted by
Tessa Lander. Tietz continues to sit second in the league with 51 total saves in conference play.
About Bemidji State The Beavers are on a three game unbeaten streak heading into the weekend, with wins over Sioux Falls and Wayne State and a tie with Southwest Minnesota State. BSU is 5-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in NSIC play. The Beavers are led by Sarah Stram with six goals on the year, followed by five players with three apiece.
Last Season The Wolves fell to the Beavers 0-1 from Aberdeen in 2013. It was the day of the NSU defense as
Bobbye Pendleton led the Wolves with four shots in the game, while
Andrea Boisner recorded three. Boisner and Bondy each notched two shots on goal, while Pendleton recorded one. The two teams were even with 16 shots a piece, how BSU took four more shots on goal.
About Minnesota Crookston The Golden Eagles are 5-4-3 overall and 4-3-2 in Northern Sun play, while coming off a 2-0 loss versus Southwest Minnesota State. UMC is led by Courtney Armborst with eight goals on the year, and Beth Lastovich with five assists. Prior to the loss against Southwest, Crookston was on a three game win streak against Sioux Falls, Augustana College, and Wayne State.
Last Season The Wolves and Golden Eagles ended in a draw a season ago.
Allie Macdonald took five shots in the game, two of which were on goal. Macdonald was the offensive threat for Northern taking 50 percent of the teams' shots in the game. Tietz added three saves in the match-up.
