St. Cloud, Minn. - The Wolves nine game win streak was snapped by St. Cloud State on the road in Friday night women's basketball play. The 61-64 loss brings the Wolves to a season record of 14-3 and a conference record of 10-3.
A 19 point first half was hard to come back from for Northern as they scored 42 in the last 20 minutes of play and were unable to secure the win. Senior
Alison Kusler led the Wolves attack with 24 points in the game, as she shot 50 percent from the floor and scored five of the team's seven three pointers.
Rachel Krogman and
Megan Mutchler each added double-digit points on the night for the Wolves with 13 and 11 respectively.
The 17 points off the bench for the Huskies added the extra strength in the win. St. Cloud was able to combine for a team effort across the board with all but one player scoring in the game.
Kusler held on strong for Northern in the final minutes of play keeping the Wolves within two of the Huskies, as she scored two buckets from the arch. The second half brought 18 of Kusler's 24 points on the night. The Wolves out-rebounded the Huskies in the match-up however came up short from the free-throw line.
Northern will be back in action tomorrow from Duluth Minnesota with game time beginning at 4 p.m. against the Bulldogs.
