Wolves Finish Road Trip This Weekend

Northern State finishes its four-game road trip this weekend as the Wolves travel to face St. Cloud State (Friday, 8 p.m.) and Minnesota Duluth (Saturday, 6 p.m.). The Wolves are currently tied for second in the NSIC North Division with MSU Moorhead and St. Cloud State at 8-4 in league play. NSU has not beaten St. Cloud State under Head Coach Paul Sather, going 0-6 in those matchups. Northern is 3-3 against Duluth under Sather. After splitting last weekend's matchups, the Wolves carry a 4-3 road record into the weekend.

About the Huskies:
SCSU is led by 17th-year Head Coach Kevin Schlagel who announced his retirement following this season back in September. Under Schlagel, St. Cloud has averaged 20 wins per season. The Huskies are fourth in the league in scoring this season, averaging 82.2 points per game. St. Cloud State leads the league in turnover margin at 5.5 and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio with a mark of 1.42 on the year. The Huskies are also second in the league ins steal with 8.67 per contest.

Who to Watch:
In league play, SCSU is led by Jordan Poydras' 15 points per game, which ranks 12th in the NSIC. Poydras is averaging just fewer than 16 a game during the regular season. The Huskies feature a pair of defensive dynamos as Kevin Levandoski leads the league with 2.42 steals per game and Chris Larson is the league-leader with 2.25 blocks a contest.

About the Bulldogs:
Minnesota, Duluth is led by a trio of high-scoring threats this season as they have three players in the top-12 in the NSIC in scoring. Jordan Reetz ranks fifth (17.5), Peter Crawford is sixth (17.2) and Reece Zoelle is 12th (15.0) in the NSIC in scoring. Crawford is second in the league in minutes played averaging 35.4 per contest while Zoeel (33.8) and Reetz (30.2) rank fifth and 19th, respectively. Reetz is also third in the conference in free-throw percentage at 92.5 percent and is eighth with 23 three-pointers made this season. Lane Olson is 10th in the conference in blocked shots with 1.08 a game.

Wolves Notes:
Seth Bachand is coming off a career weekend in which he averaged 15 points and six rebounds in the two games. Bachand scored a career-high 23 in Northern's 85-77 loss to Bemidji State on Saturday. Bachand now leads the Wolves in scoring at 12.5 per game. Tydan Storrusten leads Northern during NSIC play averaging 13.1 per contest and is seventh in assists with 3.67 a game.

Bachand currently ranks second in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 63.5 percent from the floor. Bachand, along with Trent Zomer rank eighth and fifth, respectively in the league in blocked shots. Zomer is averaging 1.67 while Bachand is at 1.25 blocks per. Skye Warwick still leads the NSIC in three-pointers made at 35 (2.92 a game) and is eighth in three-point percentage at 46.7.

St. Cloud State enters the weekend with an 8-0 mark at home this season while UMD is 6-1 at Romano Gymnasium.
