Maryville, MO – Continuing the stellar opening weekend of fall sports, the Northern State University Women's Soccer team added the final win of the spurt with a 2-0 victory of Northwest Missouri State. The Wolves improve to 2-0 on the year, leaving NSU sports teams with a perfect 7-0 set of games, as the Bearcats fall to 1-1.

The Bearcats outplayed the Wolves in the first 45 minutes of play; recording seven total shots with one on goal and holding Northern to zeros across the board.

Entering the second period of play neither team had connected with net. At 47 minutes, sophomore Allie Macdonald scored her first goal of the season with a swift kick to the top left corner from outside the goal box, putting the Wolves up by one in the game. The women spent the next 37 minutes of play with only one shot by Bobyye Pendleton before Alyssa Wilde put the Wolves up by 2 with a shot to the top left corner served up by senior Khachirha Tugas.

Goalkeeping newcomer, Brittany Tietz, shined for the team yet again with 5 saves in the game for her second win of the year. Seventeen different women saw the field for the Northern in the victory. Strong defense by NSU held off the Bearcat attack with three corner kicks and 18 shots in the game.

Northern will begin home soccer play this Thursday, September 12th, as they take on the Jimmies of University of Jamestown. Game time is set 6 p.m. from Jerde Field. The Wolves then begin conference play on the road as they travel to Moorhead, Minn. for a Sunday, September 15th, match-up with the Dragons of MSU.
