The Northern State football squad begins its fourth season in the Tom Dosch era Saturday evening as Wayne State comes to town to kick off the 2013 season at 6 p.m. from Swisher Field.

Coverage
Saturday's contest will be carried live on 94.1 KSDN "The Rock". Fans can also go to northernstatewolves.com and listen to the live broadcast by going to www.northernstatewolves.com/listenlive. Saturday's game will also have a live web stream for fans to follow along at: http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/northern.portal#. Or check out the game's live stats at www.sidearmstats.com/northern/football.

Last meeting
This will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2011. Wayne State won that late September matchup 37-10 in Aberdeen. Quarterback Jared Jacobson led NSU with 87 yards passing in the contest. Former NSU student-athlete Mike Bogdanovich scored the lone touchdown for the Wolves.

Setting the Stage
Northern is coming off its best season (6-5) since 2005, which was also the last time NSU posted a winning record. The Wolves return First Team All-NSIC selection Logan Dosch as well as second teamer Ikee Sirleaf. Dosch has also been named to multiple preseason All-American teams including USA College Football (1st team), D2 vs. NAIA Senior Bowl (1st team) and Beyond Sports Network (2nd team).

Jacobson returns to the Wolves this season after being the only player in the NSIC to run for over 600 yards and pass for 2,500. Jacobson was an honorable mention all-conference performer last season for Northern.

Saturday should be a great contest if the preseason polls are any indication. The Wolves (8th) and Wildcats (7th) were picked to finish neck-and-neck with each other in the preseason NSIC coaches' poll.

Scouting the competition
The Wildcats begin their ninth season under Head Coach Dan McLauglin. While at WSC, McLaughlin has compiled a record of 52-38. The Wildcats are also looking for their sixth consecutive winning season in 2013. Running back Charlie Davidson was named the NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year last season after rushing for 870 yards and seven touchdowns in 2012. Safety Austan Pomajzl was a Second Team All-NSIC member last year.

The Series
Northern State is 12-9 all-time against Wayne. The first meeting in the series was a 13-10 victory by the Wildcats in 1954.

Promotions
Saturday's contest will also be a "White Out" game for the Wolves. All fans are encouraged to wear white shirts to the game and help white out the Wildcats.

Midcontinent Communications is the game sponsor along with the Northern State Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). SAAC will be hosting a food drive at the game. Any person that brings two food items to donate to the Salvation Army will be given a coupon for a free hot dog, chips and soda at the game courtesy of Midcontinent. Midcontinent will also be giving away free NSU Wolves t-shirts to the first 250 Wolves Club members, as well as the first 250 students. The first 500 fans through the gate will receive a free Midco acrylic mug.

Members of the Wolves Club are invited to the RDO/Bully's Chop House Wolves Club tailgate located in the south tailgate area beginning at 4 p.m. Wolves Club members are encouraged to bring along family and friends to the tailgate.
