Aberdeen, S.D. – Winning their first conference game of the season from home, the Northern State University Soccer team is now 6-1 on the year and 3-1 in the NSIC. The Wolves defeated the visiting Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul with a score of 1-0. The Golden Bears slide to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
Scoreless through the first half of play, each team was only able to record four shots; with one Golden Bear shot on goal. A very back and forth well matched half led each time to re-group going in to period two.
With 14 minutes remaining in the game the Wolves were in a three on two match-up in the CU end. Senior
Khachirha Tugas taking the ball down the left side of the field passed off to sophomore
Anna Bondy. Bondy then fooled the defender to serve up sophomore Allie MacDonald with a shot to the top left corner; for her fourth goal of the season.
A hard fought game throughout saw the Golden Bears led NSU with 12 shots to ten. Each goalkeeper recorded three saves in the game with
Brittany Tietz notching her fourth shutout of the year.
Northern will take on the No. 6 ranked team in the country, Minnesota State, tomorrow from Jerde Field with game time set for 1 p.m.
