Wolves Fall Short on the Road, Warriors on top 49-44

Aberdeen, S.D. - On the road the Northern State Women's Basketball team falls To Winona State with a score of 49-44. On the season the Wolves fall to 13-6 and 9-6 in conference play, as the Warriors improve to 15-7 on the year while matching NSU's conference mark of 9-6.

A great second half by the Wolves fell just short as they were not able to come back from a 14 point defecit after one half of play. Senior Sarah Hintz was the player of the night for the Northern women scoring a season high 19, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor, and pulling in 9 rebounds. Hintz also would go 3-3 from the free throw line. As a team the Wolves out-scored the Warriors 28-19 in the second half. 

Senior Michelle Tobin led WSU with 22 points and eight rebounds. As a team the Warriors would force 15 turnovers and hold the Wolves to a three-point shooting percentage of 16.7. WSU pulled in six more rebounds on the night, marking the first time in six games the Wolves would be out-rebounded by an opponent.

Wolves freshmen Devon Brecke would add seven points and five rebounds, while Alison Kusler and Rachel Krogman each recorded six rebounds a piece.

NSU will be back on the road tomorrow night against Upper Iowa University, game time is set for 6 p.m..
