Northern State will look to avenge its only NSIC loss of the season Saturday as MSU Moorhead comes to Wachs Arena for a 7 p.m. contest. Moorhead beat the Wolves 87-76 back on November 30 in the conference opener.
Skye Warwick led the Wolves with 18 points and tied a career-high with six made three-pointers in the loss. Moorhead was led by Aaron Lien's 18, the Dragons out-rebounded Northern 49-29 in the contest.
Since that loss, Northern has won four-straight games and has outscored its opponents by 11 points per game in those four wins. NSU is averaging 81.5 points per game in NSIC play while MSUM is averaging 81.2 a game.
About the Dragons
Moorhead is led by Chad Walthall who is in his fourth season with the Dragons. Moorhead is one of two teams still undefeated in conference play (Winona State) and is the only squad undefeated for the season.
The Dragons are fourth in the league in scoring defense (71.0) and scoring margin (10.2) and are the second-best rebounding team in the NSIC at 39.8 per game. MSUM is one of the best teams in the league at taking care of the ball and forcing turnovers as the Dragons are second in the conference in turnover margin (3.25). Moorhead is also fifth in the league in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 43.2 percent shooting on the season.
Who to Watch for
Seth Bachand leads Northern State in scoring at 12.5 points per game while
Skye Warwick is averaging 12.2 per game.
Trent Zomer leads the Wolves during NSIC play averaging 14 per game. Zomer is also third in the league in rebounding with nine boards per contest. Zomer is coming off a great weekend last week as he averaged 19 points and 10.5 rebounds in Northern's wins over Minnesota, Crookston and Bemidji State. Zomer had career-highs in points (24) and rebounds (14) against UMC in recording his first career double-double.
Tydan Storrusten is ninth in the league with 3.5 assists per game while Warwick leads the NSIC with 3.5 three-pointers made during conference play.
Jordan Riewer leads the Dragons in scoring during NSIC play averaging 13.5 per game while Tarell Clark averages seven rebounds a game. The Dragons are a great free-throw shooting team as Malik Wood is a perfect 12-for-12 from the line during league play while Urbane Bingham (91.7) and Riewer (90.5) are in the top 13 in the NSIC in free throw percentage.
The Wolves are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and have outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points per game in Aberdeen. Northern is 29-9 at Wachs Arena over the past two-plus seasons. NSU is 3-4 against MSU Moorhead under Head Coach

Saturday's game will be Northern's final contest of 2013. The Wolves return to action January 3 at Southwest Minnesota and will return home January 10 against nationally-ranked Minnesota State.
