Kusler Sets Career High in Winning Fashion

Aberdeen, S.D.Alison Kusler set a career high 29 points in Northern State University's 74-71 win over University of Minnesota Crookston. The Wolves improve to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the NSIC, while the Golden Eagles drop to 4-4 on the season and 1-3 in the league.

Not to mention her 29 points on the night, Kusler shot 71.4 percent from the floor going 10-14 along with five rebounds as she played every minute of the game. Junior Rachel Krogman was close behind with 18 points and 13 rebounds notching yet another double-double on the season. Megan Mutchler added some much needed team scores with 16 points in the game and nine rebounds.

The Wolves out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 41-30 in the game, while scoring 11 second chance points. NSU added 15 points off 12 UMC turnovers. Northern shot 45.5 percent from the floor and committed only 15 fouls in the game. The women managed 37 points in each half, ending period one up by five.

Paige Waytashek was a much needed presence on the floor leading the team with five assists in the game. It was a one point game on two occasions with only five minutes remaining in the match-up. Kusler added four free-throws with less than thirty seconds left to seal the NSU victory and bring her career total to 940 points.

The Wolves will be back in action tomorrow from Wachs Arena as they take on the Beavers of Bemidji State University. Game time is set for 5 p.m. between the two teams with the men's game to follow.
