The Northern State men's basketball team opens the 2013-14 NSIC season with a road trip at MSU Moorhead Saturday in a 6 p.m. contest as part of a doubleheader with the Northern women.
The Wolves have won five-straight games since a season-opening loss. Northern is 3-0 in NSIC openers under Head Coach
Paul Sather and is 30-35 overall in conference play in his first three seasons.
The Dragons are 4-0 on the season having beat four NAIA opponents on the year. Moorhead is averaging over 93 points per game and is outscoring opponents by 40 points per contest. MSUM is led by Urbane Bingham's 13.3 points per game. Tyler Vaughan is scoring 12.3 a game, Ben Figini is averaging 12 points per contest and Malik Wood is scoring 10 a game for the Dragons' balanced attack.
Northern is coming off an impressive 87-57 win Monday over Mayville State. In the win, the Wolves shot a season-high 58 percent as a team and 58 percent from three-point range while hitting a team-high 11 threes in the win.
Saturday's game will be the first of three consecutive games on the road for the Wolves to begin the conference slate. NSU's NSIC home opener is Dec. 13 against Minnesota, Crookston.
