Aberdeen, S.D. – In its fourth straight win the Northern State University Swim team topped University of Nebraska at Kearney 126-79 from the Aberdeen YMCA. The win marked the final home event for the Wolves this season as they are now 5-1 on the year and 2-1 from home. Events for the night included: 400 medley relay, 1,000 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 50 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 500 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 400 freestyle relay.
The Wolves recorded eight first place finishes on the day beginning with the strong 400 medley relay team of
Amanda Taylor,
Eliza Jacob,
Samantha Gunning, and
Sara Peterson. The team finished with a time of 4:11.79 between the second place Lopers by 12.28 seconds. Gunning added to her perfect record from the last two weeks taking both the 200 individual medley (2:16.82) and the 100 butterfly (1:01.01).
Katelyn Rhodes also went a perfect 3-3 for the Wolves taking top honors in the 200 freestyle (1:59.78), 500 freestyle (5:18.40) and 400 freestyle relay (3:45.86). Rhodes was just a eighth of a second shy from breaking the school record in the 200 freestyle and about one second away in the 500 freestyle.

Kaitey Springer, and
Sara Peterson raced along with Rhodes in the 400 freestyle relay notching an important final win of the night.
Other first place finishers for the Wolves included Taylor in the 100 backstroke (1:02.79) and Jacob in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.03).

Ashley LaFave (100 backstroke) scored some much needed team points in their second place finishes on the night.

Lindsey Wilson also added team points in their efforts on the night.

Northern will now take a mid season break in preparation for the Rochester Invite, December 7
th and 8
th. Races will begin at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day for preliminaries and finals.
