Northern Handles Dickinson State 81-64

Jared Hannigan led the Wolves with 15 points and hit three three-pointers to lead Northern State to its fourth consecutive win Sunday afternoon as the Wolves defeated Dickinson State 81-64 in Wachs Arena.

Hannigan also added four rebounds and a pair of steals in the win. Trent Zomer had 14 points for the Wolves and a game-high seven rebounds. Zomer had an all-around solid performance as he also added three assists, a block and a steal for NSU.

Skye Warwick added 11 points and Michael Schreiber chipped in with nine points and four boards while going 4-for-6 from the field.
The Wolves (4-1) shot nearly 52 percent from the field and also hit eight three-pointers. The eight treys are the second-most as a team this year. Northern was on fire from deep in the first half as they hit 7-of-13 from beyond the arc.

The Wolves forced 17 Dickinson State turnovers while committing 12 of their own. Northern scored 19 points off of turnovers in the game and also held an 18-to-11 advantage on second-chance points as Northern grabbed 11 offensive boards. NSU also held an 8-2 edge in fast break points and outscored the Blue Hawks 32-18 in the paint and had 42 bench points, 12 more than DSU.

Dickinson State hung around for most of the first half thanks to six first half three balls. For the game, DSU hit 9-of-17 (53 percent) from deep. Dickinson shot just 41 percent from the floor including 27.6 percent in the second half.

Dickinson State kept the NSU lead within 10 points for much of the first half before Northern lengthened its lead the final six minutes of the opening half going on a 20-9 run and took a 56-40 lead into the locker room.

The Wolves scored the first six points of the second half and pushed their lead to as many as 25 with 4:46 remaining at 81-56.

Northern is off this coming week and will return to action the Monday before Thanksgiving Nov. 25 as Mayville State comes to town for a 8 p.m. doubleheader along with the NSU women. It will be Northern's final non-conference game of the season.
