The Northern State volleyball squad returns home to Wachs Arena for just its second and third home matches of 2013 during Gypsy Days weekend. The Wolves first host Augustana at 7 p.m. Friday and No. 10 Wayne State is the opponent Saturday again at 7 p.m.

After dropping its first two matches of the season last week to MSU Moorhead and Southwest Minnesota, the Wolves rebounded last Saturday to take a 3-1 victory over Sioux Falls, to move their record to 10-2 overall and 3-2 in the NSIC.

Against the Cougars, Jussy Tuscherer had an outstanding match, setting career-highs in kills (13), attack percentage (.458), digs (12) and aces (3). Her four blocks against USF also set a new season-high mark. For the week, setter Drew Smith averaged 10.3 assists per set during the three matches, while Kelsey Chambers led NSU with 39 total kills during the week. Smith currently is fifth in the league in assists averaging nearly 11.5 per set while Chambers is second in the NSIC in kills with 4.27 per set.

Augustana comes into Friday's match with an 11-2 record, including 3-2 in the conference. The Vikings are led by Courtney Ysker and Holly Hafemeyer, who have 191 and 185 kills, respectively. Setter Marissa Johnson leads the league averaging 12.93 assists per set.

10th-ranked Wayne State will be the Wolves' second ranked opponent of 2013 (SW Minnesota). The Wildcats are led on offense by Cori Hobbs, who is fifth in the conference averaging nearly four kills a set, while Freshman Michaela Mestl leads the league averaging nearly a half an ace per set.

Both Augustana and Wayne are coming off of victories over U-Mary and Minot State last weekend.

A reminder to Northern students that free pizza will be served at the Augustana match Friday and to all NSU fans that on Saturday, anyone who brings their ticket stub from football to the volleyball match, will get free admission to volleyball.

Volleyball's alumni reunion will take place in the Kretchman Hall of Fame room following the match on Friday.
