ABERDEEN, S.D. - Northern State won the opening and closing matches of the night, but eight straight wins by the visiting Southwest Minnesota State Mustangs through the middle weights proved to be too much for the Wolves, who dropped a 32-8 decision to the Mustangs in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling action.

NSU drops to 0-2 in conference duals, while SMSU moves to 1-1 in league duals on the season.

Sophomore Anthony Bruno opened the night with a 4-2 decision over SMSU's Ed Reno at 125 pounds, giving NSU a 3-0 lead in the team standings.  That lead, however, was short-lived, as the Mustangs rattled off eight straight victories before senior Matt Meleners stemmed the tide with a dominant 19-4 technical fall win over Todd Klemz at heavyweight.

NSU now heads out to face sixth-ranked Upper Iowa on Sunday in another NSIC dual match-up.  Action is slated for 2 p.m. in Fayette.
