Mavericks Out-Pace Wolves on the Road

ABERDEEN, S.D. - A slow start proved to be the downfall for Northern State as the Wolves fell 71-47 to No. 24 Minnesota State, Mankato in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball action.

NSU ends the night with a record of 8-4, 4-4 in NSIC, while the Mavericks improve to 10-2, 6-2 in NSIC play.  

Northern State sophomore Megan Mutchler lead the Wolves scoring 12 points and snagging seven rebounds. Sophomore Sadie Stotesbery and junior Alison Kusler each drained nine points for the Wolves. Senior Sarah Hintz recorded five rebounds in the effort. Hindered by cold shooting, the Wolves shot under 40 percent from the field, three-point range and free throw line.  

The hot shooting Mavericks took 27 three-point attempts, 18 in the first half alone. Minnesota State bench players accounted for 34 of the team's 71 points.

NSU looks to improve tomorrow against Concordia-St. Paul. Game time is set for 4 p.m..
