ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Northern State soccer program rode a pair of
Rachel Goslinga goals and four
Kourtney Woracek saves in goal to notch a 2-0 win over the visiting Jamestown College Jimmies in non-conference action Wednesday evening. The win marked the first of the season for the Wolves, now 1-2 overall. Jamestown fell to 0-3-1 on the year.
The Wolves struck gold in the 16
th minute of the first half when Goslinga corralled a long through-ball from
Amelia Taylor up the middle and stuffed it in the lower right corner of the goal.
The senior's second goal of the night and the season came with 23:08 left in the game when she picked up a loose ball in the middle and scored from 18 yards out to tack on the insurance goal.
The Jimmies managed to get off four more shots after that, just two of which were on goal. Woracek made the easy saves on both attempts to record the shut-out.
Wednesday's game marks the final non-conference match of the season for the Wolves, who now turn their attention to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play beginning this weekend. NSU plays host to MSU Moorhead on Saturday in the Wolves' annual Cancer Awareness match. The Dragons were 2-0 winners over Minnesota, Crookston on Wednesday.
Kick-off for Saturday's contest is set for 9 p.m. at Swisher Stadium.
