Goslinga goals power Wolves past Wildcats 2-0

, S.D. – Northern State senior Rachel Goslinga netted her fourth and fifth goals of the season to power the Wolves to their first Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory, a 2-0 win over Wayne State Sunday afternoon.
 
The win moves the Wolves to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.  WSC slips to 0-6 on the season and 0-3 in NSIC games.
 
Goslinga's first tally of the day came in the 27th minute of the first half.  The senior picked up a long through-ball from teammate Brittany Madrigal.  Goslinga took a two quick touches, froze the Wildcat goalkeeper, then struck gold to put the Wolves up early.
 
Goslinga found the net again early in the second half, picking up a loose ball deep in Wildcat territory, then taking the ball to the net herself and burying a 15-yard shot for the insurance goal.
 
The NSU defense did its part for the win, limiting the Wildcats to just one shot on goal, that coming midway through the second half.  WSC did get 12 shots off in the game despite having just one on frame, while nine of the Wolves' 14 shots were on goal.  Goslinga had nine of NSU's total shots, seven of which were on frame.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Kourtney Woracek picked up her second career shut-out, spending all 90 minutes in goal for the Wolves.
 
NSU goes on the road next weekend to face Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.  Both games begin with 1 p.m. kick-offs.
