Wolves travel to Wayne State for NSIC Tournament

SETTING THE STAGE:
The Wolves are set as the eighth seed of the Sanford/NSIC Women's basketball tournament, traveling to play Wayne State in Wayne, Neb. The Wolves enter having lost in their last regular season contest at the University of Mary, 79-73. In the contest, Emily Becken tied a career high with 27 points while Sarah Hintz recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The winner of Wednesday's contest will play the winner of the Minnesota-Duluth and Minnesota State game, which is also Wednesday, in 12 p.m. match-up on Saturday March 2 in the semi-final round of the Conference Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota.

Northern State owns a 19-21 all-time record against Wayne State.

About the Wildcats:
Wayne State, the 2012 NSIC Champions and riding a 42 game home win streak are led by senior All-America Ashley Arlen who led the NSIC with 18 points per game and second in the league with 9.1 rebounds per game. The Wildcats are also led by Clare Duwelius who led the NSIC in three-point field goal percentage (48.5) and three-point field goals made with 66. The Wildcats are on an 11 game win streak having swept Minnesota, Crookston and Minnesota State Moorhead this past weekend.

The Wolves are 0-2 vs the Wildcats having lost 60-38 in Aberdeen on December 9. On February 11, the Wolves fell 55-50 after having lead for nearly 36 minutes. The Wildcats were led by Arlen who had 17 second half points for her game high of 19 as the Wolves were ld by Alison Kusler with 16 points.

Who 2 Watch 4:
Sarah Hintz (F, 5-11, Jr. Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS) posted her first career double-double in the 78-73 loss to the University of Mary. Hintz, the NSIC field goal percentage leader, scored 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting while securing 11 rebounds in 29 minutes of action. She also secured six of Northern State's 18 offensive rebounds. The Wolves will travel to Wayne State for for the first round of the Sanford/NSIC Women's basketball tournament on Wednesday February 29 for a 7 p.m. match-up.
