BISMARCK, N.D. – The host U-Mary Marauders put an end to Northern State's three-match win streak on Saturday, using a four-bout streak that included two pins and a major decision to squeak past the Wolves 22-20 Thursday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference wrestling action.
 
The dual marked the end of the regular season for the Wolves, who now turn their attention to the NCAA North Region Tournament, slated for Feb. 25 in St. Cloud, Minn.
 
Wednesday's action began on a hot note for the Wolves after Anthony Bruno earned a 9-1 major decision and Ian Muirhead followed with a 50-second pin to put the Wolves up 10-0.
 
The Marauders, however, rattled off wins in the next four weight classes, including pins at 141 and 149 pounds and a major decision at 165 pounds to go up 19-10 with four weight classes left.  The Wolves won three of those four, highlighted by senior Donnie Bowden's 11-1 major decision win at 174 pounds.
 
After a 5-2 win by Chad Gibson cut the Marauder lead to 19-17, U-Mary pushed their lead back out to five with a win at 197 pound, meaning defending NCAA national champion Matt Meuleners would need a win by fall to give the Wolves the team victory.  Meuleners did come away with the 8-2 win over Martin Patron for his 19^th straight victory, but wasn't enough to propel the Wolves past the Marauders on the scoreboard.
