Box Score SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A seesaw battle turned into a one sided affair as the Augustana Vikings (14-8, 11-7) bested the Northern State Wolves (12-10, 8-10 NSIC) to take the season sweep over the Wolves in a 73-60 decision.
The first half was a battle of back-and-forth banter between the two squads which included a highlight reel jam from
Alex Thomas to give the Wolves a 17-13 lead with 9:54 remaining.
The Vikings would eventually take the lead for good with 4:22 remaining from Cameron McCaffery lay-in at 21-19.
The Vikings took a 27-22 halftime lead.
The second stanza proved to be an entirely different story than the first half as the Vikings used a 23-0 run to go from a 33-33 stalemate to a 56-33 lead in a span of four minutes and two seconds.
That is all the Vikings would need as they cruised to a 73-60 victory.
Alex Thomas led the Wolves with 16 point as
Dustin Tetzlaff hit 11 free throws for part of his 15 points.
Cody Schilling had a game high 17 points as he led a trio of Viking players in double digits.
The Wolves continue on the road trip in Wayne, Neb. as they take on Wayne State in a 6 p.m. start from Rice Auditorium.
