ABERDEEN, S.D. -
Northern State sophomore Rachel Krogman notched her second double-double in as many nights while the Wolves put three starters in double figures and out-rebounded visiting Black Hills State by 28 boards en-route to a 64-47 win over the Yellow Jackets Saturday evening.

NSU moves to 2-0 following the opening weekend of play, while BHSU slipped to 1-2 on the season.

NSU's starting five accounted for 47 of NSU's 64 points, led by junior Alison Kusler's 15 points.  Krogman snared seven offensive rebounds on her way to an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Megan Muchler chipped in 10 points, seven boards and a pair of steals in the effort.

While NSU did not get out to a racing hot start, the Wolves put together a defensive effort that badgered the Yellow Jackets into a 25 percent shooting effort in the first half.  The Wolves then cleaned up on the defensive glass, limiting to just three second-chance points in the stanza.

Kusler, meanwhile, paced the NSU offense with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from long range, as NSU steadily built up as much as a 14-point lead before heading into the break up 12 at 30-18.

NSU began the second half with a 9-0 run on a pair of Kusler buckets sandwhiched around a three-pointer by Mutchler.  The end result was never in doubt, as the Wolves pushed the lead to as many as 26 with just under six minutes to play.  The Yellow Jackets closed the game to 15 with two minutes left on a Savanna James trey, but would get no closer.  Lauren Deadrick capped the game with a driving lay-up with a minute and a half left, leaving the final score at 64-47.

Bailey Kusser led the Yellow Jackets with ten points.  Chelsey Biegler added eight, and Dakota Barrie seven before fouling out of the contest.

NSU is back in action next weekend, taking on Nebraska-Kearney and William Penn in the Concordia-St. Paul Raddison Roseville Thanksgiving Classic.
